On the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine, we set out to solve an attention problem leveraging a data blind spot. Instead of looking at what we knew about the war, we looked at what the world’s most talked about AI chatbot didn’t. After a few conversations, we realized ChatGPT may know everything about Ukraine when it came to the people, places, culture and customs, but with two-year old training data, it paradoxically knew nothing of the war. This revealing verbatim became an emotional prompt to reignite support for the ongoing crisis. To date, donations to the Humanitarian Coalition have tripled.
